ELEMENTARY PARTICLES - beyond electrons, protons & neutrons
the image you are seeing is of large hadron collider, it is a large particle accelerator situated at cern. it is a 27 km long tube like structure. Inside it the collision of particles such as electrons, protons and neutrons takes place at a speed of near 99% speed of light.
These collisions give rise to certain new particles which are very short lived but detected by detectors in this collider.
Experiments have confirmed that there are a total of 17 particles which are indivisible and constitutes the whole universe.
out of these particles there are quarks(inside protons and neutrons)
and leptons which both constitute the whole matter of universe. but there are also some other particles -BOSONS which constitute forces. these quarks, leptons and bosons are still of several type you can see in the images given.
