- As Per Cathode Ray experiment we know that every material is composed of some tiny particles, and these particles exhibits property of attraction and repulsion.
- we call one type of these particles as +ve (positive charge) and other as - ve (negative) charge.
- And as per observations if you take two +ve /-ve charges together they will repel and if you take one positive and other negative charge or vice versa they will attract each other.
- so it can be stated as- Like Charges repel each other and unlike charges attract each other. charge is measured in Coulombs (C) in S.I Unit System .
- while in C.G.S System it is measured in e.s.u (electrostatic unit)
- 1 Coulomb = 3×10^9 e.s.u

It Was Also Found That Every Charge Which independently exists in "Stable" state always have Charge as Integral Multiple of "e" this is know as Quantization.Q= ne , It Clears That Charge exists due to presence or absence of Discrete Particles like electrons and protons.
